According to a report over at Runners World, women are better at running marathons than their male counterparts.
The article in the magazine mentions a statistical analysis of marathon splits were they found that women are almost 19 percent better at running during marathons compare to men.
While it has been shown that males are the faster runners, they are considered not the smartest, a treat that plays a role when it comes to extended running times.
A Swedish researcher, Jens Jakob Andersen studied 1,815,091 results from more than 130 marathon runs during the past six years. A previously conducted report that studied marathons in Chicago, Illinois can up with similar results.
The most startling revelation of those studies is that men tend to slow down more in the second half of the run compared to female runners.
The study likewise found that the younger runners, aged 19 and under are amongst the worst performers. Those runners aged between 35 and 39 and 40 and 43 are found to be the best pacers.
